Permanent residence and citizenship

Description

After a longer period in the country (usually 5 years, but there are some exceptions) it is possible to apply for permanent residence. Further information on the procedures for this are found on the following pages:

EU/EEA citizens and their family members
Non-EU/EEA citizens

In general, after 5 years of permanent residence, you may apply for Czech citizenship. The Czech citizenship application is filed in person at the appropriate Regional Authority according to the applicant’s place of permanent residence.
