Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, invites applicants for the position of:
Project DRIFT-FOOD, WIDESPREAD-06-2020
This position involves conducting daily laboratory work in the field of food chemistry. The primary functions include maintaining and operating laboratory equipment, preparing samples, managing chemical substances, overseeing storage and disposal procedures, training new users, operating equipment, and contributing to technology transfer efforts at the Food Technology Centre.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Experimental experience in chemistry, food chemistry, food science/technology
- Strong laboratory/analytical skills to prepare solutions, samples, and food ingredients /product analyses.
- Fluency in written and spoken Czech and English (the working language of the Group), good communication and teamwork skills.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
- Following laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures for preparing samples for analysis, performing internal calibrations, and preparing stock chemicals/reagents.
- Collaborating in preparing equipment and material for lessons and thesis experimental work
- Collaborating in checking equipment and materials before and after class to ensure quantity and identify any malfunction.
- Advising on safety matters or potential equipment problems and updating on new developments.
- Training laboratory users on correctly using specialized equipment (e.g., pH meters, colorimeters, and spectrophotometers, among others).
- Maintaining laboratories to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
- Keeping an inventory and ordering materials and equipment for the department.
- Safely disposing of chemical and other waste.
- Assisting staff with class practical work when necessary.
- Conducting general chemical safety checks.
- Trailing experiments (practical assessments) and demonstrations, keeping notes/records of these.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE PROVIDED WITH:
- A full-time or part-time position contract (24 months supported by the ERA Chairs grant)
- A competitive salary of CZK 45 000 gross per month on full time/part-time is negotiable
- Benefits include 25 days of annual leave, flexible working hours, supplementary for the pension insurance contributions, meal vouchers, subsidized meals at CZU campus, opportunity of accommodation at CZU campus.
EXPECTED STARTING DATE: August/September 2024
